A study on the Passaic River fish and levels of pollutants

Social Studies Standard: 6.1.4.B.5

This video clip features a news story about scientific testing being conducted on the fish inhabitants of the Passaic River to determine the effects of high pollutants on the fish and the levels of pollutants they are carrying.  This video directly relates to the Social Studies Standards 6.1.4.B.5.  It can be used as an informative lesson to describe how the dumping and polluting into the Passaic River since the beginning of our factories being built along the water has impacted the environment in New Jersey.  This also shows efforts being made by teams to take initiatives in cleaning the Passaic River and determining if it is environmental safe by for the people in New Jersey to use for any purpose.

An Introduction to Gravity

Science Standard: 5.2.4.E.4

This video was created by Jessica Alldredge for her 2nd grade science class and introduces the Physical Science concept of gravity and falling objects.  The upbeat and informative School House Rock song "Gravity" explains basic concepts of gravity during this animated slide show full of illustrations and pictures.  Important discoverers such as Galileo and Sir Issaic Newton are featured.  This would serve as a great introduction to a lesson on gravity, showing students that objects are pulled down to the earth and what would happen if there was no gravity at all.
